Get that Drone out of storage, don't give up on starting a business
When it comes to adding a drone to your services or a drone start-up, don't be intimidated by your drone and fear of failure. As (UAV) commercial pilot trainers, we are the first Florida drone training school approved by the FAA to have clearance teaching at an airport. We have found that most people longing to use drones in their business just need more PRACTICE and understanding. Patience is a must with drone instruction and an instructor with any type of experience needs to be your support system. It doesn't matter whether you have 10 years or 20 years experience as an instructor, your student depends on you. 3rd Rock Air puts safety first and we will advise you on gray area regulations that actually aren't gray at all. 3rd Rock Air has implemented new safety recommendations that not only protect you, but these practices enhance a drone business. In other words, you will certainly appear more professional and feel confident with dedicated time by a team. Your dream is only as limited as your devotion to it. Let us teach you that practice makes perfect!
What you will fly
You will use a Syma X5HW quadcopter for the first part of your flight training. We've chosen the X5HW because of its reliability and the fact that it is a completely manual aircraft with the exception of altitude hold. Before you move to a more expensive aircraft with features such as one button takeoff, return home, etc. you need to learn the basic skills required to fly a drone without built in assist modes.
After you've spent some time learning the basic controls and how to fly a UAV in completely manual mode, you will move on to one of our school's DJI Phantoms's. With the the Phantom, you will be able to experience a number of different pilot assist modes, helping you fly and control the aircraft.
